Smoke-Free Ontario Act – Workplace Vehicles

The Smoke-Free Ontario Act prohibits smoking in enclosed public places and workplaces, and this includes vehicles.  An “enclosed vehicle” is defined as “the inside of any place, building, structure, or vehicle or conveyance or a part of any of them, that is covered by a roof and that employees work in or frequent during the course of their employment”.

Smoking is not permitted – by employees or non-employees – inside workplace vehicles, regardless of whether or not the employee is acting in the course of their employment at the time.  Smoking in a workplace vehicle is illegal 24 hours a day, seven days a week, this includes rental cars and trucks.

At Bristol all of our rental vehicles are NON-SMOKING.  All of our fleet vehicle have posted no smoking signs inside and ashtrays are not supplied in our rental vehicles to comply with the Act.

We ask that all of our customers comply with the legislation.

Thank you for keeping Ontario workers safe, in a smoke-free environment.
